It is strongly recommended that you do not go past 6 weeks before your next waxing appointment.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between hard wax and the ordinary "strip" wax?
We are proud to offer "state of the art" hard wax, which is easier on the skin than ordinary "strip" wax. The azulene and chamomile based hard wax is soothing to the skin. It attaches only to the hair which makes the process less painful. The hard wax requires a special technique that requires experienced estheticians. This type of wax is not one of the cheapest to get in the U.S., but its quality of attaching only to the hair and not to the skin makes the process less painful and easier.
How is the cleanliness and privacy of the facility ensured?
Our set-up is very discreet, comfortable and clean. Our technicians wear gloves during the entire service. Sticks and tools used are disposable and/or sanitized and sterilized. OUR WAX IS NOT REUSABLE. After the wax has been used, it is disposed of. Our professionalism, cleanliness, and the expertise of our technicians make The SkinSpa Institute very unique to offer safe and sanitary Brazilian as well as Basic Bikini Waxing.
How long does the hair need to be before it can be waxed?
The hair needs to be at least a quarter (1/4) of an inch long for the wax to grip it properly. This is usually about 3 to 4 weeks of growth. Hair should be no longer than 1/2 of an inch for best results. It hair is longer it should be trimmed but not shaved before coming in for your appointment.
How long does the Brazilian Bikini Waxing take?
The process can take from 15 minutes to 1 hour, depending on how much hair needs to be removed. This is why the price varies with each individual. First timers usually will cost a bit more because of the time involved.
How long does waxing last?
Waxing may last from 1 to 6 weeks. The more you do it, the longer it will last. If your last hair removal was shaving, the first waxing after that it will not last too long. No shaving in between PLEASE!
How often should I have waxing done?
We recommend anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks. Five weeks is usually best.
What is Epil Confort and why should I use after waxing?
*It is an antibacterial and antimicrobial treatment
*It destroys bacteria, fungus, and yeast
*Cools, shrinks, reduces swelling, and protects the empty follicle
*Increases elasticity in the follicle wall
*Atrophies new hair growth
*Breaks fats and oils to prevent clogging
*Protects against in-grown hairs
*Rids area of old in-grown hairs caused by waxing and shaving
Is laser hair removal better than waxing?
Waxing damages the hair follicle by the constant hair removal from its root. Over time the hair follicle may die and hair will not grow. This may take a few years. Laser, on the other hand, destroys the hair follicle, so it won't produce hair. Multiple treatments are required and are very expensive. Hair will sometimes grow back with Laser. Unfortunately there is no such thing as 'permanent' hair removal.
Do I need to do anything to prepare myself for my first waxing appointment?
You should arrive "freshened up" or if there isn't time, we provide moistened "towelettes" for your convenience. The client MUST undress from the waist down and change into disposable underwear, right before the treatment starts. You may take some Ibuprofen or Advil 1 hour before the treatment. It may not work as a pain killer but its anti-inflammatory properties are helpful in the process.
